Enetai - Hudson River and Southern New England cruise, 2015
2-1/2 weeks, 584 nautical miles.
This travelogue is the second segment of our in-process circumnavigation of New England and part of Atlantic Canada on the so-called Downeast Loop. We are doing it in segments over several years. In 2014 we cruised north out of Lake Champlain down the St Lawrence River. That cruise is logged here. This year, we went South from the same launching ramp on Lake Champlain. It took us a little less than three weeks to get back around to our "home ramp" in Salem Massachusetts. There were two distinct segments: First, a fresh water riverine segment down Lake Champlain, through the Champlain Canal and down the Hudson River to New York City. Then, a salt-water segment as we sailed the length of Long Island Sound, across Narragansett Bay and through the Cape Cod Canal to our pull-out in Salem.
Update 29 Feb, 2016 We have split this from 2 parts to 4 parts to make it more readable.
Part 1 now takes us down Lake Champlain and through the Champlain Canal.
Part 2 is the tidal Hudson River from Albany to New York City.
Part 3 is Long Island Sound with visits to Bruce Kirby and the Norwalk Islands.
Part 4 takes us along the Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts coast to our pull-out in Salem.
